Russia Stage the Freeride World Tour, Nissan Russian Adventure by Swatch, which will bring together the best riders in the world, freestyle skiing and boarder cross, will be held in Sochi’s Krasnaya Polyana ski from 21 to 25 January, told RIA Novosti on Monday, the representative of the Agency of sport communications 360SCA Hope Krasnov.
“In Russia during the World Freeride Tour will bring together the best riders in the world, freestyle skiing and boarder cross, including two Russian athletes who received wild card (invitation) from the organizers of the stage”, - said the agency interlocutor.
In the first stage of the Freeride World Tour made by Egor Sorokin - Alpine Skiing (Moscow). Women set off the tour this year will begin only with the second phase - Nissan Freeride of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, which kicks off January 28 in Chamonix (France). It was made by Russia athlete, team rider Nissan, skier Veronica Sorokina from Moscow.
The prize fund in the event this year will be 200 thousand dollars. Championship, traditionally held in four stages: Nissan Russian Adventure by Swatch (January 21, Krasnaya Polyana, Sochi); Nissan Freeride of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc (January 30, Chamonix, France); Nissan Tram Face - Squaw Valley USA (February 27, Squaw Valley, USA) and the final stage, following which will be determined on the freeride world champion, will be the traditional race in Verbier (March 20, Switzerland).
By 2010, around the world have already organized 17 independent qualifying competition - Freeride World Qualifier Events (FWQ), who have passed strict certification by the International Council of professional freeriders (Pro Freeriders Board). All events have the same evaluation system according to the standards of the world championship. These competitions will select from among the world’s best young riders for further participation in the Freeride World Tour. The first qualifying competition in Russia - Snowweek 2010, will be held January 26-31, also in Krasnaya Polyana, immediately after the races for the championship.
